jan11showstars screenIt’s always great to get involved with new, exciting ideas and when Neil Lloyd pitched the National Young Show Stars concept to us, there was no way we were going to say no!

The event, which takes place in partnership with the Three Counties Agricultural Society at the Malvern-based Showground on the 2nd April this year, will see teams of talented beef, sheep, dairy and pig enthusiasts compete in a range of tasks from stock judging through to animal presentation and ring craft, as well as be tested on their ability to work as a team and their knowledge of the livestock industry.

Along with the teams, individual competitions are available for young butcher and auctioneer enthusiasts who will equally be put through their paces on various aspects of their blossoming career. Both the teams and individuals will be entered by a “team sponsor” and will be judged by a number of experienced, high profile judges from all over the UK and will compete for what can only be described as “fantastic opportunity” prizes including overseas travel prizes.

Handling the Show Stars account, as well as being a member of the working committee, Chrissie Long said: “From the minute Neil pitched the idea I knew this had some serious potential, it’s what the next generation has been crying out for. It will be fantastic to get youngsters from across the livestock industry under one roof for what will no doubt make a great competition. Alongside the competition, the addition of trade stands and presence from Universities and Agricultural Colleges will mean the event offers something for all youngsters keen on this sector.”

So now it’s over to the rest of our fantastic clients to get their thinking caps on and put forward teams – whether you’re a Society, pedigree breeder, Auctioneer company, butchery outlet or industry organisation, you can put forward teams and help them pursue their dreams in obtaining future knowledge and experience in this exciting industry.

Take a look at the new site which we’ve designed which has the entry forms available for download and keep an eye on the News section of the site to keep up to date with what’s going on with the event. We look forward to seeing as many of you on the 2nd April as possible and for those of you who can’t make it, Farming Eye will be bringing you live coverage and images from the event on the day.
